Celebrating Spring With Flowers

Celebrating Spring With Flowers

I love spring. After the winter months of rugging up, hibernating and trying to keep warm, those first few rays of spring sunshine are such a delight. And of course, spring is the peak season for fresh flowers.

Spring is a time of new beginnings, remerging and refreshing ourselves after the winter. As the weather warms up and the flowers begin to bloom I think we all feel inspired and reenergised.

In this article I have cover ways you can bring spring into your home, which flowers are in season, tips for caring for cut flowers and a list of AMAZING events you can go to over the next few months to make the most of spring.

Spring has sprung!

There are so many great ways to bring spring into our homes to help us enjoy this season. Here are some of my favourites:

  • Having big bunches of bright flowers in my living spaces, obviously!
  • Bringing the garden inside with indoor plants and fun plant pots
  • Refreshing my living spaces with new décor and accessories – vases, cushions, art, candles…the choices are endless!
  • Using fresh and light essential oils like citrus, tea tree and lavender – I use them in diffusers and make my own air sprays
  • Add splashes of colour, patterns and florals to my outfits. Even just a floral clutch or cute flower earrings can instantly make me feel more energised!

What flowers are in season in spring?

Spring is THE season for fresh flowers. So many flowers! Here are some of my favourites blooms for spring:

  • Ranunculus

  • Daffodils
  • Jonquils
  • Hyacinths

  • Lavender
  • Sunflowers

Tips for caring for your cut flowers

Nothing says spring better than a beautiful, big, bright bunch of flowers. They immediately lift your mood and bring joy. Whether a gift from a loved one or picked from your own garden, there are things you can do to care for your cut flowers and extend their life.

  • If you are placing them in a vase, strip the stem and cut the ends diagonally before placing in clean water
  • If they are in florists foam in a box, top up with clean water daily and take care not to over water
  • Change their water every three days
  • Keep them away from direct heat/light as much as possible. Avoid placing them near windows that let in strong light or other sources of heat like TVs and microwaves.
  • Removed withered blooms to keep the whole arrangement looking fresh
  • Add a drop of tea tree essential oil to the water.
