Flower Inspired Gifts For Mum
We don’t need an excuse to spoil the mums in our lives and show them our appreciation, but Mother’s Day is the perfect opportunity to shower our mums with love 😍 It can be hard though, year after year, to find the perfect present without being repetitive and predictable.
Flowers are one of the most traditional expressions of love, affection and gratitude. A beautiful bouquet of sweet-smelling blooms is sure to put a smile on mum’s face. But there are also lots of other options to spoil mums with a floral-inspired gift that will show her how much she means to you.
Putting together gifts for mums is one of my most favourite things to do, so here I am sharing a few ideas for flower inspired gift options.
Flower inspired gift ideas for mum
Fresh Flowers
Yes, they are traditional, but for good reason. Flowers – particularly carnations – have been associated with Mother’s Day since it was started in 1908. Not only are fresh flowers vibrant and beautiful, but they can easily be personalised based on your mum’s favourite flowers or a colour scheme.
If one bunch of flowers isn’t enough, why not gift your mum a fresh bouquet of flowers every month for a whole year!
Popular flowers for Mother’s day, and their associated meanings, include:
- Carnations: pink for gratitude and love, light red for admiration, dark red for love and affection and white for remembering a mum who is no longer with you
- Chrysanthemums: red for motherly love and gratitude, white for truth and loyal love (avoid yellow and purple)
- Iris: purple for wisdom
- Lillies: yellow for gratitude, pink for prosperity
- Roses: bright pink for stregnth, feminitity and gratititude, yellow for happiness and celebration
My recommendation: Florist Choice Seasonal Bouquet (available in small, medium or large). Let me know any colour or flower preferences and I will work my magic using the freshest flowers in season. Using in-season flowers means better value for money, more robust blooms and longer vase life for your bouquet.
Self Care Hampers
Who doesn’t love getting a hamper?!?! The excitement of unwrapping and looking at all the goodies inside. Even better if all those goodies are focused on helping you relax, unwind, and dedicate a few quiet moments to reconnecting with yourself.
Giving your mum, wife or partner the gift of self-care sends them a heartfelt message that all their selfless hard work looking after others is noticed, and they are worthy of some time for themselves.
My recommendation: The Mother’s Day Bundle featuring dried floral arrangement, bath bombs, wine and chocolate. Or create a customised hamper by choosing from a selection of treats and self-care products your mum will love, including bath bombs, bath soaks, candles, skincare, jewelry, tea tonics and more – check out the range here
Botanical Experiences
If you’re looking to give mum something a little out of the ordinary, why not gift her a floral inspired experience? Better yet, make it an opportunity to spend quality time together and go along with her. You could take her to your local botanical gardens for a picnic, go browsing in the local nursery, check out some open gardens or take a walk on a bush track.
My recommendation: Book in for my Succulent Dream Catcher workshop being held on Saturday 15 May. All materials and plants supplied.
Quirky Bloomz
If you are looking for a ‘fresh’ take on the traditional bouquet, here are some fun and creative ideas for inspiration:
- Give a ‘bouquet’ of chocolates instead of flowers
- Give a ‘bouquet’ of mini wine and/or spirits
- Give a terrarium of succlents
- Have your bouquet of flowers arranged in a wine glass/coffee mug/knitted vase/jar
My recommendation: Coffee and Cake Bloomz – a beautiful bouquet of seasonal flowers in a ceramic travel mug with a delicious mug cake mix – yum!
Massage
Trust me when I say most mum’s feel like a massage is a complete indulgence that they can’t justify spending money and time on. So spoil them, make them feel loved and special. Give them permission to indulge!
My recommendation: The Flowers and Aromatouch package gives the best of both worlds – mum takes home a fresh bouquet of flowers after enjoying a deeply relaxing and rejuvenating essential oil massage
Everlasting Flowers
If fresh flowers don’t float your boat, consider gifting mum an everlasting arrangement of dried flowers. There are lots of advantages to everlasting flowers over fresh – obviously they last longer, but they are also low maintenance and a good alternative for people with allergies.
My recommendation: An everlasting dried floral arrangement fragranced with essential oils – you can find my recommended favourite blends here
Botanical Candles
Even if your mum doesn’t really use candles at home, I can guarantee she will love the opportunity to fill her bathroom, bedroom or living area with the delicious smell and ambience of a good quality scented candle. The flickering flame and low light of a candle promote a meditative, relaxing, reflective mood – just perfect for a session of self-care. Good quality, hand-poured, soy wax candles are clean-burning, long-lasting and are better at carrying scents through the air. Look for candles that also use pure essential oils rather than synthetic fragrances.
My recommendation: The Iridescent Dreamz Soy Candle infused with Frankinscense, Myrrh and Vetiver, sprinkled with garden picked rose petals and lavender petals and a selection of energy aligned gemstones
Potted Plants
Great for the mums who love to nurture and grow things for themselves. The options for potted plants are endless, you can look at indoor plants, hanging pots of colour for patios, planter boxes full of herbs or even small shrubs and trees that mum can plant into her garden.
My recommendation: Potted succulent plants – low maintenance, hardy and work well both indoor and outdoor. Perfect for mums who love a bit of greenery but might not have the greenest of thumbs!
At end the end of the day, we know our mums are going to love any gift we give because it is the thought that counts just as much as the gift itself. A little extra effort to find mum a gift that shows how much you care for her and are grateful to have her in your life will go a long way. Afterall, the mums in our lives spend so much of their time and energy thinking about, caring about and worrying about us – Mother’s Day is all about shining the light back on them to say thank you, we love you.
